The Lost Hero by Rick Riordan

5.0

I don't normally write reviews, but I just loved this so much! the plot, characters, and setting were just amazing!

THE PLOT; this is a very rick riordan-y plot. a new evil is stirring again. This time, it's the earth and her giant children themselves. Gaia has captured Hera, using the goddess's energy to awaken her son, the king of giants. They plan to overthrow the gods and claim Olympus. A new set of demi-gods get sent on a quest to retrieve Hera before the solstice, or else the giant king and his mother will awaken.

THE CHARACTERS; I adored the characters in this book! Jason, Leo, and Piper were so fun and relatable. I adore Piper!! I think it's so interesting to have a child of Aphrodite in the story. Also, I admire how Riordan played with the gods in this book. I care for Hera, and I love how she is Jason's patron even though he is Jupiter's son. The lesser gods being important in this story was also something I enjoyed, gods like Khione, Boreas, and Aeolus. Honestly, I didn't expect mythic characters like Medea and Midas to be in here! The subtle use of Roman names and Roman mythology fit the plot very well, especially with Jason's situation. I don't have anything bad to say!

THE SETTING; being back at camp half-blood felt great. I can't say much about the setting, since this is a quest book. Still, I enjoyed some of the places that we were taken to. Like the Wolf House, Medea's store, Midas's golden mansion, and Boreas's hotel.

I am very excited to see where this series will go, and can't wait to read more about the new set of characters we just got!
