Teddy should have her life figured out by now, and she thought she did, until Richard—-the man her world revolves around helping and caring for—-dumps her. Now she has to figure out what she really wants to do in life and where her passions lay. Her “comfort show” is Everett’s Place, a modern day MIster Roger’s Neighborhood. On a whim, Teddy decides to email Everett for life advice and, unexpectedly, he emails back. But Everett has his own problems, too. He’s known from the start What he wanted to do and has achieved it. He’s poured his entire life into the show but feels like something is still missing. As they start their online, and eventually real life, relationship, both embark on a journey discovering what truly matters in life.

I related equally to parts of Teddy and Everett’s lives and fears. Like her other books, it made me laugh out loud, and some parts made me cry. I feel like VSY focused more on the romance aspect than her previous books. However, I appreciated the themes of self-discovery and growth that went along with it (and the romance was SUPER cute!). I love that Winfrey always weaves family and friendship into her stories, not just romance, although these side relationships didn’t feel as well developed and realistic compared to her other books. For example, the dialogue between Teddy and her friends Eleanor and Kristin often felt unrealistic or like it was trying too hard to be funny and quirky. However, the conversations that got deep, were GOOD, necessary conversations. Lots of highlighting going on! The tender moments made my heart squeeze. Overall, Very Sincerely Yours is a solid addition to the rom com repertoire and makes me excited for Winfrey’s next book!
