The Language of Thorns: Midnight Tales and Dangerous Magic by Leigh Bardugo
5.0
So I kept watching YouTube videos about Leigh Bardugo’s books and the Shadow and Bone series. I was curious and felt like I would like her books but I wasn’t too sure so I watched Shadow and Bone and I loved it, and I’m keen for season 2. Then I thought I have to read this books but I wasn’t sure which books I wanted to read first and then my friend told me about this short story collection and since I could read it at any point I decided to start with this. And I’m so glad I did, not only has it got me into Leigh Bardugo but now my fairytale obsession is back (once again) and now I feel like reading all my fairytale collections I still haven’t got around to reading. I love how Bardugo writes, I love the worlds and characters she creates. The combination of Bardugo’s retellings of classic fairytales but told in a very original way was super engaging and combine that with the gorgeous illustrations of Sara Kipin, it’s just such a lovely book. I plan to do the Shadow and Bone trilogy then the Six of Crows duology, then the King of Scars duology, then the Lives of Saints… not quite sure if I’ll do Ninth House and Hell Bent after all of those or if I’ll do them in between randomly… Leigh Bardugo fans let me know x
