It was almost a 5 stars, but the repetitions made me feel like their was some kind of lack of trust for the reader, where nothing warranted it. I'll remember the exact word you used a few pages ago. It didn't feel like it added to the rhythm of the story, nor that it did anything to evoke the state of mind of the character. It was just a little annoying.
Otherwise the story is good, the world building is great (I even wanted more of it a little tbh).
There were times where I felt like some stuff could have been cut out to make space for more lore or backstories. But all in all I had fun and I'm considering stealing some stuff for hypothetical DnD campaigns.
