This book is the perfect blend of history, a great main character and fantastic storytelling. They connect the history and the characters as well as the tough topics on race and racism with a strong female who I would have loved to have known in real life. Belle was an amazing historical figure and the authors give her story life and hope even in the dark moments of our history.
