Famine by Laura Thalassa

5.0

Famine & Ana: Two Misfits that Fit Quite Nicely Together! -5 Stars!

It's Famine's turn to wreak havoc on the Earth as he destroys crops, controls vegetation and is able to control the weather and rot things at a rapid rate. This self-righteous Horseman takes pleasure in making humanity grovel at his feet as they offer gifts and beg for their lives. This is when Famine meets Ana, a prostitute who offers herself up to Famine in hopes that he will remember her and their past encounter (she saved his life). He doesn't and swiftly calls for her execution. However, Ana survives, and she seeks out Famine to exact revenge. Her plan backfires and she winds up being the latest contestant on the "Tour of Destruction" with a deranged Horseman.

The relationship between Ana and Famine is a unique one. Of all the Horseman, Famine is the least human of the four so his humanity is basically non-existent, and he is not driven by the pleasures of the flesh like the two previous Horseman. Which is why I thought it was clever writing to pair him with a sex worker! Ana is strong and resilient throughout the story, and it is both humorous and sweet the way she cracks through the tough exterior of Famine. As cruel and unkind as Famine was throughout this book, he will tug at your heartstrings, and you will fall in love with him by the end of this book. You may even be like me and shed a tear.

I am still in awe of how much I am enjoying this series after detesting Book one. This has caused me to go back and revisit Book one at a later date to see if I still feel the same. Until then, I await the final installment of the series, DEATH in my TBR pile to see how it all ends.

If you have not read this series, I encourage you to! Just be advised that while this is a romance, it contains ALOT of violent scenes. With that, I enjoyed FAMINE and am seeing Laura Thalassa's writing style in a new light!

Happy reading!
