Reread January 2023:
Lowering my original rating from a 3 to a 2 because I was so annoyed reading this book. Fitz is on the bottom of the totem pole of Briar boyfriends, like honestly I wouldn’t even consider him he annoyed me so much. He was so wishy-washy, he’s attracted to Summer but she’s totally not his type, constantly talks himself out of liking her, his roommate/teammate makes it known he’s into her and upfront asks if it’d be a problem to go for her and he’s all “I don’t care as long as it doesn’t ruin our living situation”, gives Summer a fleeting moment of hope for something to happen between them and then ghosts her, has the worst timing…

I like Summer more but she had her problems too. She kept giving such great advice I just wish she would have taken it!

”I feel like too many girls fail to remember one vital truth: we deserve someone who gives us one hundred percent. Half-assed effort isn’t effort. Half-assed love isn’t love. If a man isn’t all in, then we need to be all out.”

“Wait for what?” I snap. “For you to decide that I’m worthy of your time and attention?”
His brown eyes widen. “What—“
“Isn’t that what it boils down to?” I cut in, bitterness staining my tone. “I’m not someone you want to spend time with.”
“That’s not true.”
“Fine. I’ll amend that. I’m okay to hook up with, but I don’t deserve a conversation about it afterward.”

If only she listened to herself as she talked!

The only relationship I cared about in this book was Summer and Brenna! Their friendship was so great and it honestly felt like they’d been friends forever, not that they just met. I’m hoping we get to see a lot of them in Brenna’s book.

Original Review September 2021:
Ugh, it disappoints me that I didn’t love this book because I loved all the other ones. I don’t know, Summer and Fitz were just hard to enjoy and although they were cute together there was the whole beginning period where every time they interacted they’d miscommunicate and everything would go wrong. And then they’d continue to make bad decisions instead of just talking things out. Everything could have gone a lot smoother if Fitz had just been like yeah I’m into you way at the beginning.
