I enjoyed the first half of the book more than the second half

I think Calvin's death was a bigger twist than the reveal of his mom

but I think the ending rounded out the book in a good way. I loved the multiple levels to the story with the encouragement of the intellectual & physical capabilities as women as well as the love and grief & conflicts that other characters had to face.
