The Secret Child by Kerry Fisher
4.0
A beautifully written novel that portrayed the struggle that Susie had to live with after giving up a child.
The tense of part one made it feel very personal, as if the reader was the child who had been given up - although this effect was slightly dulled by the change in part two, although I see why this was done.
The characters were complex and interesting. They provoked feelings of sympathy and annoyance at the right times, just enough to be involved in the story instead of detracting from the storyline.
The ending and part two was definitely the highlight of the book and was very emotional and the plot twist was unforeseen (although was very logical and hinted to quite a bit, looking back).
Overall, a great read and I would recommend this book to anyone.
