Dear Life: Stories by Alice Munro

9 July 2024: well, shit. The cat’s out of the bag. For decades, Munro shielded and defended her husband, who sexually assaulted her daughter. It really re-frames a lot of her stories in an incredibly disturbing way.

I’ve always had lukewarm but appreciative feelings about her craft, but I must admit, I can’t help but see her differently now, especially considering that it is now evident that she drew on her experience shielding a rapist. Fuck.
