The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid

5.0

The seven husbands of Evelyn Hugo is profound and powerful. My heartstrings are torn apart.

As a historical fiction, it is important to remember that given the setting that the book provides, the happenings within the book could happen in real life, it is important to remember how much we, as a a society has progressed while still remembering those who faced prejudice for who they are, and with the focus on this book, specifically LGBT and Women of color. The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo is not a love story, it’s NOT just a love story, it is a story about Evelyn’s life and not just about who she loved. A story about sexism, homophobia, racism, pretty privilege, the patriarchy, abuse … all in such a reachable, beautifully painful story.
