Excellent social criticism. This book is readable as a stand alone novel, mostly, but I do wish that I had known of and checked out the previous book in the cycle. This one took a while to gain my interest, partly due to being in first person present tense. By midway through, the topic of sex trafficking was up front and center, and difficult to keep reading. My fault for not checking on the reviews.
