This book was so fun I loved the characters. They were both super into each other and I’m glad they didn’t overly resist their attraction. Usually you spend a good chunk of the book waiting for them to give into each other.
Gregory, the poor sweet man, suffers from a childhood of being ignored by his parents and thus believes himself to be unlovable and is unwilling to tie down any lady with notions of love. Then enters Julia who is desperate for a marriage, with anyone at this point, to get away from a life of serving her stepmother. These two cross paths at a ball and neither can deny the attraction between them. Gregory knows he shouldn’t pursue her but just can’t help himself and Julia sees this as an opportunity to get what she wants, a marriage of convenience for the both of them. She can escape her stepmother and he can be protected from all the married ladies wanting a tryst with him.
