Carmilla by J. Sheridan Le Fanu

4.0

I was surprised to have thoroughly enjoyed this, I was worried it was going to be bottled up dull classic literature, but in many ways it played out as much as a mystery than as a supernatural story. Obviously the twists are fairly obvious for the modern reader, but it would be unfair to them to expect basic twists to be surprising well over 100 years later! I liked the characters, I liked the style of Carmilla as a character and the various details of her nature.
I love to be surprised by enjoying a book rather than disliking it for a change.
