I enjoyed most of this book on the surface and as I got close to the ending, I couldn’t put it down because I was curious to see how things would pan out. However, I was ultimately quite disappointed with the book in the end. While the circumstances around Erin’s death were fairly unbelievable, I was willing to suspend belief for the sake of the story. But I just couldn’t get over how unrealistic the courtroom scenes/the trial and investigation as a whole. Some parts of the circumstances surrounding the death were never fully explained either. There was also an increasing amount of religious content throughout the book which didn’t add anything and just felt forced in.

Also Elijah sucked and was a whiney baby most of the book and really did not respect the women in his life. Which come to think of it, the only women in the story were his dead mom, Nakita, Erin, and the woman who owns the restaurant and is known as the town gossip.
