The Summer of Broken Rules by K.L. Walther
5.0
This book had been on my list for a while because I heard there were Taylor Swift references. Even if there were no TSwift references this would have been a 5-star read for me.
The story follows Meredith who heads to Martha’s Vineyard for the summer wedding of her cousin, Sarah. Things haven’t being going the best for Mer — her sister died 18 months ago, her shithead boyfriend dumps her right before the wedding and she has essentially shut herself off from some of her closest friends.
But each summer the family plays the game of Assassin and Meredith is determined to honor her sister, Claire. But then, of course, Mer gets distracted by a cute groomsman.
This was a tragic/heartbreaking, but hopeful story. I loved the characters and I loved the light romance. It was fun to imagine a family summer on Martha’s Vineyard!
