The award for the least surprising five-star review goes toโฆ Brynne Weaver and her latest thrill ride, Leather & Lark.
๐ ๐๐ผ๐ผ๐ธ ๐๐ป๐ณ๐ผ๐ฟ๐บ๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป: Leather & Lark by Brynne Weaver
๐ ๐ฆ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ถ๐ฒ๐: Ruinous Love trilogy. Book 2 of 3.
๐ ๐ฅ๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ฑ๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐๐ฒ๐๐ฎ๐ถ๐น๐: E-book on Kindle.
๐ ๐๐ฒ๐ป๐ฟ๐ฒ: Dark romance
๐ ๐ง๐ฟ๐ผ๐ฝ๐ฒ๐: Serial killer, organized crime, grumpy/sunshine, he falls first, slow burn, marriage of convenience.
๐ ๐ฆ๐๐ป๐ผ๐ฝ๐๐ถ๐: To save her friends from suspicion in a recent string of murders, Lark marries Lachlan, a contract killer and her best friends brother-in-law. But underneath her glittery exterior lies a heart just as dark as his.
๐ ๐ฅ๐ฒ๐๐ถ๐ฒ๐: Five stars to Black Sheep. Five stars to Marrow. Five stars to Butcher & Blackbird. And five stars here. Surprised? Iโm not.
What I am surprised about is how Brynne Weaver still finds unique ways to tell a story. She swore she wasnโt writing a B&B 2.0, and after reading Leather & Lark I can say she gave Lachlan and Lark their time in the sun.
I loved everything. The banter. The slow burn and tension. The inner monologues. The groveling. And god if I could give this book more than five stars for that bonus chapter, I certainly would.
Weaver has a way of making serial killers relatableโฆ of making you root for them. Of making the serial killing the backdrop, and the people the main focus.
The setup for the end of the trilogy has me chomping at the bit as well.
But once again, taking off my hat and raising a glass to the queen of this niche dark but beautiful section of the romance world. No one does it better.
