The Vampire Lestat by Anne Rice
5.0
Oh, please, my darling, my beautiful one, please! I wanted to say. But my eyes were closing! My lips wouldn't move. I was losing consciousness. The sun had risen above.
Let me start this by saying that when I finally finished this book I was so excited I actually ran out to tell my mother and fell over to which she responded "I suppose you're the vampire LeSPLAT" and, yes, I did laugh.
This book was brilliant! Actually beyond brilliant and I'm so glad it took me forever to read because I could get completely into it. Lestat is such a complex and interesting character, he is now my #3 favourite fictional character (after Beth March from Little Women and Heathcliffe from Wuthering Heights). I love his relationship with Nicki so much! It's so perfect and heart-breaking. This entire book is. I found myself in tears far too often.
I loved this book so much more than Interview with the Vampire. Brilliant, brilliant work.
