Gaza Weddings by Ibrahim Nasrallah
5.0
This is such a beautifully moving novella. Its power comes through the way that Nasrallah blurs the characters in ways that the reader can also become confused with what's happening to whom. When one character is murdered by an Israeli bomb, several women come to claim him as a husband, fiancé, brother, son and they all mourn him because they cannot figure out his real identity; his body parts have been so disfigured and disrupted by Zionism's wrath. Nasrallah does a brilliant job of pulling the reader into this devastating environment, mourning right along with the characters.
