As with Brown's other books, this is an engaging,  fast-paced adventure that, in this case, is set mainly in Spain, using many unique architectural buildings as locations, that are interesting to just stop and look up in their own right.

The plot revolves around a computer scientist who is planning to release information that will answer two fundamental questions, where did we come from, and what will we become?
However, there is a shadowy faction who wish to discredit and or stop the presentation and seem willing to use any method to achieve that goal.

The interplay between the various characters is well handled and feels natural and unforced, which coupled with an intriguing plot, that has more than a few twists and misdirects, and involves both the catholic church and the Spanish royal family, delivers a satisfying, but thought-provoking conclusion, making this addictive reading.
