The Boring Book: (childrens Book about Boredom, Funny Kids Picture Book, Early Elementary School Story Book) by Shinsuke Yoshitake
5.0
*'Who came up with the word 'boring' anyway?'
*'I wonder what the most boring age in a person's life is'
*'I wonder if some people look like they're having fun, but they're actually bored. Or if some people look bored, but they're actually having fun.'

Here is a new favourite illustrator of mine: Shinsuke Yoshitake! Yoshitake's effortless kawaii illustrations easily brighten up your day - clever narrative approach, witty characters and interesting book themes (the topic of boredom is already exciting to me!).
This book brings such pure joy indeed.
I laughed out loud when reading this book and had to pick it up for re-reading many times. My favourite thing to do was spotting tiny characters in the 'boring amusement park', they are either grumpily or happily walking and playing while every activity in the park is obviously too easy for them.
'The Boring Book' is a great recommendation for children who are reluctant readers (don't let the title fool you, kids!). It can easily amuse them and guide them to learn more about abstract life lessons: how things are not always as they seem to be and moreover, this seemingly stagnant state is normal for anyone to go through as long as we never give up the fun and find a way to break through this boring state of mind.
