Song of a Captive Bird by Jasmin Darznik
4.0
This is a deeply moving work... not only due to the author’s desire and dedication to make Forugh’s story as known as possible, within the bounds of fiction, but also because of how it displays the life of a woman in Iran during Forugh’s lifetime. It is somehow poetic, the way it’s written, which I suspect is much the intention. It’s hard to explain, so I guess you’ll just have to read it.
It was a bit slow for me at first, but knowing it is based on the life of Forugh kept me intrigued and I don’t regret reading this.
