Among the Beasts & Briars by Ashley Poston

2.0

This was a book I got from a book box subscription and never knew if I was going to want to read. When finally going through unread books to get rid of because I no longer had interest in ever reading them, I posted this book on my Instagram to have my friends vote on if I should just get rid of it or try reading it. Results were to read it. Surprisingly I didn’t DNF it, but I didn’t love it either. I wasn’t expecting to love it, but I sure did start getting my hopes high with the eerie scenes of these things in the woods.

Basically, I think it started off good. Then the middle, I felt like I was sluggishly forcing myself but still had hope. I didn’t like the characters or the cute moments or the nicknames. Just wasn’t my thing. And the ending just wasn’t enough, for me, to save the book. The writing for the creepy bits is what pains me to rate this 2/5, but it’s how I feel. I can see why people would enjoy this especially if you enjoy fairytale like books. Emphasis on some Beauty and the Beast connections.
