Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas

5.0

Good lord, this book was a ride.
Calaena is this badass assassin, who has no problem telling or showing people her skills, while also reminding readers...she lost a majority of her childhood because of a King's lust for power.
Chaol trains Calaena for the Champion Event and isn't really accepted into Prince Dorian's court. Prince Dorian is the pretty boy prince who flirts with anything wearing a skirt but does change halfway through the book.
Nehemia, a princess from a rival kingdom, is my absolute favorite mainly because she wields magic. I loved the action in this story, however, I do not like the love triangle aspect of Young Adult novels. Calaena is, at times, annoying as can be due to the fact that she has been told most of her childhood that she's the best assassin. She even talks about how she hates not being able to show her full potential. But after her interactions with Cain, I think she truly starts to change.
Through her experiences with Cain, Nehemia, and Dorian Adarlan's Greatest Assassin starts to grow and trust people.
This book has a great plot line with great action and a heroine that is flawed.
