Blind Side by Kandi Steiner
5.0
"You and me, we're real"
OH MY GOD Clay & Giana own my heart. This has easily topped all the other college sports romances I've read and I have read quite a few. I finished this book in one-sitting and stayed up until 5 am reading because I could not stop. I'm not usually one to like the fake dating trope but Kandi writes it so well, I couldn't not, not love this book.
Giana is the marketing/media manager for her college football team, and Clay is a star player who's had a recent media mishap. The two of them strike up a deal to make the people they're pining after jealous. Butttt, the more they fake date and fake kiss, the more they realize its each other who they love. I ADORE the two of them together, the banter is so witty, Clay is SO respectful (but also very very hot) and Giana is badass and fiesty. She's not afraid to prove people wrong and go after what she wants and I love that. Clay is literally the book boyfriend of dreamsss, that man could run over me with a car and I would thank him.
Not only was the plot in this book entertaining, but omg was it steamy. This is my first book by Kandi so I can't compare it to her others, but this book definitely had some spice. Throughout the book Clay is "teaching" Giana, and he's so sweet to her about it I was squeling the whole time. But don't get me wrong the spice was SO HOT. I mean this man reads her romance novels to learn what she likes (why is he not real!!??)
This story is so perfectly entertaining, a little bit angsty, and a lot enjoyable. This is truly the perfect romance read to make you believe in love, fun, and the ocactional need to fake date a football player :))
Tropes:
- Fake Dating
- Virgin Heroine, experienced hero
- family drama
- Opposites attract
