Burning Glass by Kathryn Purdie

5.0

So, I picked up this book without realizing it was on the "New Releases" shelf. Had no clue it was brand new, I just read the description and liked it so I bought it. Reading this book was an experience I can't quite explain...

You know when someone says a voice is so smooth it's like butter? That's how I felt reading this book. The writing was one of the best I've ever seen from a YA book. The words flowed so perfectly, I didn't have to re-read sentences two or three times. I was able to picture everything in my mind. Nothing seemed out of place, and everything made sense with each other. I'm usually put-off by reading some books whenever the writing is bad, or there's grammar/spelling errors. I am not exaggerating when I say there was not a single grammar or spelling error within this book. It almost felt like this book came to me as a blessing.

I know, this review almost doesn't even sound realistic. But this is how I really felt. I was disappointed when I realized this book was only released last month; it means I'm going to be waiting a long time to get the next book. I love reading stories that are based on fantasy, adventure, and romance. I can usually only find what I like in the Young Adults section, but the writing is usually sub-par due to the young target audience. Which is why this book was so refreshing to read for me. I can't praise it enough. I wish all YA books would be written this wonderfully.
