Maybe by 2019 we should know better than consistently calling native people savages? Made me uncomfortable to have the protagonist (colonizing) army consistently treat them as inferior, and the authors depiction of the natives as “hooting” as they stabbed someone wasn’t helping. It’s possible that the protagonist army is going to face consequences for this as there’s still a hefty chunk of the book, but it made me uncomfortable. Also the way this book handled SA was frustrating.
