I just saw that Patrick Ness recommended reading this right after the Knife of Never Letting Go and I read this months after I finished the whole trilogy—which was fire by the way. I loved the short story, loved seeing a glimpse of Viola's life on the settlers' ship. I was wondering how her parents died and as usual, the writing is amazing. Even the font is the same one as the Violas in the next books.
