I didn't love the philosophy references and how this book aims to read as an intellectual text. It didn't engage me and felt very distant. I also didn't love how consent was not clear in some areas of this story.

I also thought it was interesting that this book is fashioned as Elio being infatuated with Oliver but really it seems like Elio is infatuated in general with sexuality. The peach scene and his flip-flopping between Oliver and Marzia really showed his age and curiousness with sexuality.

This book was not my vibe so I feel like I need to talk to someone who loves it? I just don't get the hype. I'm also very torn because part of me wants to watch the movie so that I can understand the hype and part of me doesn't want to waste my time.
