Anne Frank's Diary: The Graphic Adaptation by Anne Frank

4.0

Having not read The Diary of a Young Girl in four years, I can't say fore sure just how much content wasn't covered in this graphic novel. That being said, the way art and text were used here was simply powerful, and the adapter and artist conveyed all the emotions Anne experienced so that they saturate the page. I loved how each individual was given a distinct appearance, and not one of them was stagnant: they all came alive. I loved the whimsy of Anne's lighter thoughts compared with the raging reality of war and her fears for the future, that contrast emphasized by the color (or sometimes, lack of color) used. For those unfamiliar with the original diary, I think this would be a great introduction.
