Twelve Years a Slave by Solomon Northup

4.0

This was a really interesting book, especially for anyone who like me knows very little about the slave trade in southern america a worryingly short time ago. It is incredible to see the journey through solomons eyes. It is ofcourse compleatly impossible for anyone to imagine what he and people like him must have gone through. Even if he hadnt been put into slavery, the fact that as a black person at the time he was forced to carry papers confirming he was infact a free man and if those papers were to vanish he could be sold off like a farm animal. This is obserd. How people could believe they were good people while treating everyone different than them like animals is insane. I would reccomend reading this book to anyone who gets a chance to read it.
