I struggled to keep myself in the story - the main character's inner monologue became very tiresome.  There were so many details about the staging of the play, and I wasn't particularly interested in the play aspect at all.  I really appreciated the details regarding the realities of being Palestinian and trying to live/exist in the West Bank.  For me, that was the most interesting part of the book, and kept me (mostly) engaged until the end.
