The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks

4.0

Original Read 2015:
It was okay. But I don't get why it had the hype that it did... As far as Nicholas Sparks books go this was my least favorite that I have read. Maybe because it was one of the first made into a movie? I plan on watching the movie soon. Maybe in the next couple of days.

I just watched the movie. I loved it so much more than the book. I love Ryan Gosling. I really did not care for the girl who played Allie but it worked out alright in the end. I think I missed a lot at the beginning of the book when I was listening as an audiobook.

The ending was so sad :(

Second Read 2023:
My original rating was only 3 stars, but I am going to bump it up to 4. I think the reason I gave it only 3 stars the first time was because it’s a very simple love story. Sure there is
the tragedy of Alzheimer’s and there was the little snaffu with her being engaged to someone else,
but even with those things it is a pretty straightforward and simple love story. There’s no major drama. It’s very peaceful. I wasn’t a huge fan of that the first time around, but I enjoyed it this time.
