There was so much potential in this book. From the summary, I was looking forward to adventure with a romantic twist with a mature protagonist. Instead I feel like we got a rough draft. The plot wasn’t linear and some story lines weren’t fully developed. I wish we were earlier in the process so these reviews could help with a revision.
Harrow has been hiding as a fortune teller at the circus for the last 50 years. She hides her true identity as the world’s last Seer. Her people were systematically slaughtered in the great war between the Queens. When a hybrid elemental man is sold to the circus, Harrow feels an instant connection and must save his life. What could possibly be their connection?
The main characters in this book, have had deeply traumatic lives. Harrow’s people were killed in a genocide, making her the world’s last Seer.
Wraith has been enslaved for his entire existence. The story took two horrible traumatic experiences, used them as plot points and moved on. I don’t feel like that’s conscionable without a whole lot more discussion.

Red Tower and Entangled have been publishing amazing books this past year! I went into this book with such high hopes. I think it came down to the discordance of the pacing that made a large impression. The world building was a bit disjointed from different POV’s and with the passing of time. The time in the hotel seemed to be the focus of the book, as it was the only part that didn’t have time speeding forward. add in some plot holes and it really left something to be desired. I was excited for a mature protagonist’s point of view. Harlow is 50, with a life expectancy in the centuries. I did enjoy the friendship between Mal and Harlow’s friendship. They were the kind of found family I love.
