This was a really great read! This book follows one main story line, which the author tells by switching between two characters' points of view. The whole cast of characters live in an apartment complex which is inhabited mainly by immigrants from Latin America. Every so often, the author will insert a chapter written from the perspective of a different neighbor that is basically their own summarization of how they came to be where there are now. I thought the writing was unique and really neat! I thought Cristina Henriquez did a beautiful job of showcasing how immigrants can be perceived so wrongly and that the realities of why people immigrate and how their lives unfold are much more complicated that many people realize or even care to think about.
