This is a cute and funny book. There's a magical town with quirky characters, a witchy mother-daughter duo with a Gilmore girls dynamic, some campy vibes and enough intrigue to keep you reading until the end.

Sadly, the humour and the banter are a tad repetitive, to the point of feeling overplayed. This book falls into something I've seen before when authors have tried to recreate the Lorelei/Rory relationship and it's the lack of justifiable context for that dynamic. And I gotta admit, I'm a bit tired of seen the parentified child "so mature for her age" as something positive, so this might be one of the reasons I got a bit bored while reading this story.

Also, I'm not a big fun of book heavy on the description side, but for the love of Pete, not everything needs to be said in a dialogue! So much exposition that could have been handled differently.

Besides that, I couldn't understand lots of the choices the characters made. I don't know if those were written for the sake of the plot or shock factor...

In general, I didn't enjoyed it, and I don't think I'll read the rest of the series, but I appreciate the fact that the author made the book accesible through Stuff your Kindle.  It may work for you if you're looking for something light, witchy and on the fun side.
