Very interesting story frame and good world building. The pace was great too.
However, I just couldn’t find myself believing in the narrative. Characters repeatedly
Make stupid decisions because plot. The romance between the main characters starts with them literally hating each other to suddenly being bffs. The transition between the two felt way to sudden. I loathed that full grown adults spent the better part of 300 pages both being too scared to admit their feelings and playing the “they don’t like me. How could they I’m a monster “ game with loads of jealousy. I also couldn’t stand that despite the fact they were betrayed at literally every opportunity they were ~surprised~ by the betrayal and continued to trust people. Finally, please don’t make your character a literal god if you’re gonna spend the whole book having him get his ass handed to him…. Especially by people who should be weaker than him. At least give us a story line of him being severely weakened or something. Also I’m sorry, but Liam is an ass about everything and not in a super endearing way. He regularly complains about the FREE clothes people are giving him and makes negative and whiny comments about how people’s literal MANSION and GARDENS aren’t as nice as his back home.
