A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J. Maas
1.0
AAAH! I HAVE SO MANY ISSUES WITH THIS BOOK!!!
but, before we begin, this is your reminder that sj maas is pro-!sr**l and you should boycott her
I only read this book because I had already bought it before finding out she supports apartheid
Even if I didn't, I wouldn't have purchased any more of her books. You know, after reading Throne of Glass and ACOTAR, you realize she can only write one type of story with slightly different elements.
!!!!!Warning!!!!: the entire review is full of spoilers, I'm complaining about the events that happen.
This book was such a DRAG for no good reason.
I can't believe she spent so much of the book hyping up that dumb fucking mirror only for Feyre to conquer it in half a page, and for the Bone Carver to die a FEW MINUTES into the battle.
And that typical scene, where everything is lost, they're all saying goodbye, in despair, when WHAM their crippled father who we haven't seen since book 1 is suddenly back with an enormous legion that he managed to gather!!
and, managed to die a few minutes later. the author gave him just enough time to tell his daughter who hates his guts that he loves her. just enough time to traumatize Nesta for a few more books.
oh, there's also Drake and Miryam who just *sensed* the trouble and came back at the perfect time.
Lucien's trip was all for nothing then, right?
Instead of wasting pages on dumb court visits and following horrifying death lords, SJM should've written about Lucien's trip, the father, Draken and Miryam, Jurian, and Rhys (how convenient for him to make a deal with the Weaver in secret, while his mate makes a deal with the Bone Carver ALSO in secret.)
If I hear "mate" one more time, btw, I'm throwing myself off the balcony.
Also, does no one die in this book? Rhysand gets revived? Even AMREN is revived??? even though she was supposed to have lost all memories?
Precious Illyrian wings healing left and right, even though it should've been near-impossible.
and how the hell didn't the king sense Elain behind his back?! where are his commanders?!
I'm tired and exhausted. I'm so glad I'm done with this trilogy. Never coming back to sjm ever again.
