This book is a cozy, escapist piece with a lot of fairly thin platitudes that would be most comfortable on a poster of a cat hanging in there. But despite that thinness and occasional heavy-handedness of the philosophizing in the book, it's a fun read with a ton of charm and character. Nothing here is super deep, but the characters are all wonderful and the romance is sweet.
I think this book mostly ends up being exactly what it wants to be, which is very engaging, funny, and hopeful. It occasionally tries to be more and doesn't quite manage it, but that doesn't matter too much when the characters are this charming and memorable.
