"The people we love are never really gone from us."

Say hello to my first favorite read of the year! :D

I loved every single thing about This Poison Heart. The writing captured my attention right from the beginning and the way Bri was introduced as a character and how we got to know about her powers was so so so cool. I had such a big smile on my face as I read the first few chapters because I found the set up for everything delightful!

Plant magic, poison, and mysterious inheritances? What's not to love, really.

The plot was very intriguing! There were a few things about it that were pretty easy to guess, personally, but I had so much fun going on this journey with Bri. The way Bayron combined Greek mythology with the story and how it tied so closely to Bri and her biological family history was so interesting and I loved the way it was done and developed.

The humor and easy conversation between characters was also so nice! Bri's relationship with her parents was so heartwarming and I really loved that Thandie and Angie had such prominent parts to play in the story. They felt like a loving family unit who was there to support each other and it was such a lovely thing to read about.

The final few chapters were very tense and, despite already knowing what was going to happen, there were 2 twists in particular that caught me totally off guard! And I loved them so much! The way Bayron was able to wrap up the main arc of this first novel while setting up more questions and challenges for the sequel was expertly done and I loved everything about it! Now I have to wait for the next book :D
