Waypoints: My Scottish Journey by Sam Heughan

I read this book to learn more about the Highland Way. I do not watch Outlander so I did not know the author was on the series when I started the book. I was prepared not to like it when I discovered who the author was as I was afraid it would have more movie star and less Scotland as a focus of the book. But the author did a good job of describing the Scottish landscape and the Highlands as well as his career in a modest and self deprecating manner that is not typical of the average movie star. The book does have a lot of information about and descriptions of Scotland and the author is good about discussing how Scotland shaped him.  It was an interesting and engaging read. I would love to find a non celebrity memoir about hiking the Highland Way.
