Good Talk: A Memoir in Conversations by Mira Jacob
5.0
Wow this graphic novel memoir blew me away. This is the kind of format which I love to read and I am so glad that I stumbled upon this book. I haven’t seen much press for it, but I also don’t remember seeing much when it came out either.
This is the book I wish my own racist grandparents and family members would read. There are so many hard and difficult questions and conversations throughout this memoir. This entire book pulled at my heart strings. As a white person, I can’t begin to understand what it must feel like to be a diverse person living in America. I see how the world treats people who aren’t white and it’s horrifying. I hate the world. I wish more people had empathy for humans because everyone deserves to live their lives without having to deal with racism and violence, among many other things.
This book attached itself to my heart and I’m glad to have found it. I loved the format of photographs in the background of Mira Jacob’s drawings. I will wholeheartedly recommend this graphic novel to anyone and everyone.
