A Man by Keiichirō Hirano

This book was mysterious in a way that was so poetic. It made me really challenge my own opinions and viewpoints on certain topics without necessarily feeling preachy. While it deals with heavy topics, the mystery that serves as the main catalyst of the plot never loses steam and it keeps you gripped right to the final pages.

Sometimes with translated works I feel like I miss some of the poetry and beauty that the story would have in it’s original language (not that I would ever mark a translated work because of that, seeing as I really need to learn more languages if it’s going to niggle at me this much lol) but from how thoroughly I enjoyed it I can only assume this translation did this Keiichiro Hirano’s writing justice.

Tragic and beautiful. I really enjoyed this one.
