Very compelling, I read the last one hundred pages back to back. Often couldn't put the book down. I liked the love story, rooted for the characters, although the ending felt abrupt.
The magical elements were small but it worked to the books advantage as it gave it an element of mystery.
A lot of the book was slow and the overall narrative is uneventful, but to be honest I can forgive a lot of it just for having a nice gay love story.
