Daughter of the Pirate King by Tricia Levenseller
1.0
This, just wasn’t it. The book had a good start and great premise, but I don’t feel it was executed as well as it could have been.
The romantic relationship which was supposed to be enemies to lovers, just didn’t feel that way. There was no sense of that hatred or danger or rage that happens between enemies at all. I only knew that they were enemies because it was stated so. But otherwise it felt more bantery and annoyance filled more than anything.
And the romance itself was far to quick, especially for an enemies to lovers trope- there was no build up or real tension it was more one minute Alosa is in a cell sneaking out and oh look now we’re in Ridens room and kissing? There was no gradual lead up.
I also feel that maybe there wasn’t enough pirate esque lingo or scenes for a story about pirates set on a pirate ship. It felt like the whole pirate thing was almost forgotten about, or just simply there to add a bit of intrigue.
I liked the story though! But I just feel that it could have been done a bit better.
