Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert
5.0
My mom recommends books to me all the time. I'm usually reading multiple books at once (Audible and physical) so I normally reject her suggestions. Also, she's more of a hippie than I am, which makes me hesitant to pick up self-help style books that she suggests. Shout out to mom! I love you!
I wasn't quite sure what to expect when I pressed play on Big Magic. I never read, nor felt the desire to read, Eat Pray Love, and I still don't. But, I'm glad I went against my usual impulse this time.
Big Magic is a small book full of philosophical ideas and stories about creativity and living a creative life. Whether you live as an artist or you have an artistic streak that you wish you would nurture, Big Magic will invite you to embrace it.
I paint and I write. I don't do either very often anymore. Last night, I picked up a paintbrush for the first time in months thanks to this book.
I definitely suggest you read Big Magic and gift it to those you know who love their creativity.
