I didn’t see myself reading The Poppy War but had the pleasure of doing it through a buddy read with @nowheregirlandherbooks ☺️

For me it’s a solid first book in a trilogy, it got all the successful elements to keep you turning pages. I loved Rin, she’s a true badass character and I was surprised with all the witnesses and the subtle humor.

Gotta say I preferred the school context rather than the war and wished to have seen more of Nezha’s development as a character.

Overall it didn’t wow me but I enjoined it a lot! Let’s see what the other two books bring.
