Does life ever go as you expect? This book could be a sad look at the way life treats the aged and the vulnerable, but the author treated the characters as fully human and nothing is black and white and easy to label. I unexpectedly fell in love with both Herb and DeeDee and was able to see the joy they each found in their circumstances.
