The Long Tomorrow by Leigh Brackett
5.0
Read it. Leigh Brackett, weaving a story about one boys desire for knowledge, what a smart woman, so intertwining religion and science and portraying quite an accurate view of a world after a nuclear attack. Well, an American one at that. She speaks of fanatics on both sides and what a great ending. A bitter sweet ending, but a great ending. Len, you're just like the rest of us unsure about everything that ever was and ever will be. You'll always be unsure, but that's what it is to be human. A great piece of fiction, not your typical sci fi, not your typical post apocalyptic story. It wasn't filled with malice or horror, but the mundane kind of violence. The violence we see every day, there was nothing fictional about it. Very real, very good. She captured the human condition and how people act very well. Realistic. Poor Len. Leigh Brackett, I never heard of you, but I'll remember you now. Very underrated, this story deserves far more attention and far more awards. You're name should be up there higher than some writers I know of.
