Hither, Page by Cat Sebastian

4.0

A solid cozy read, Hither, Page is a small town murder mystery with a dash of MM romance; Cat Sebastian's expertise at crafting compelling characters is once again at work—I was fully invested in the heroes' budding relationship, as well as the web of eccentric town folks. Even though the story takes place in a post-war British setting, its tone is more charming and lighthearted like Clue, rather than anything overly somber. The mystery itself, while featuring some good twists and turns, is played out just as what one would expect from the sub-genre, nothing particularly memorable, and definitely pale in comparison to the more uniquely constructed romance.

Overall, this went down like a hot cup of tea—nothing too extraordinary, but comforting nonetheless. It also hits the spot for being on the shorter side (a quick change of pace in my reading), as well a decent mix of genres (mystery, romance, historical). Since currently it's a part of a duology, I can see myself hitting Book 2 relatively soon!
